What’s New at Whitewater Excitement
Since 1978, the Whitewater Excitement staff has consistently integrated new features, staff and trip options to make your California rafting outdoor vacation a “Best in Class” experience.
Recent changes to make your trip even more comfortable and enjoyable are:
- Tent cabins at our private American River campground
- Bed and Breakfasts/ rafting combo’s
- New river rafting trips for kids and family as young as 5.
Comfortable Tent Cabins on the American River
If you love the outdoors and river rafting, but seek a higher level of comfort, you will love our new tent cabins located in our private campground on the American River. Each of our two tent cabin features four comfortable cots. Sleeping bags with liners are available for rent.
Combine our tent cabins, hot showers, bathrooms with your 1 or 2-day rafting trip with meals and you have got a California river rafting vacation you will love. All you need is your pillow. Rates are $60 per night and sleep four.
Historic Bed & Breakfast & River Rafting Trips
If you want rafting fun and a high level of comfort, this California river rafting – Bed & Breakfast combo in the heart of California Gold Country can’t be beat.
Enjoy a historic Queen Anne-style bed & breakfast inn, complete with old-fashioned hospitality and antique furnishings. The historic American River Inn and conference center,* built in 1853 with its elegant Country Victorian guest rooms and suites, creates a sense of nostalgia and serenity for guests. If it’s time for an adventure and a romantic escape for two, check into nearby the American River Inn less then 15 minutes from our camp and rafting trip departure point.
Each morning before your rafting trip and after a comfortable night’s rest on an antique feather bed with down comforter, your gracious Innkeepers will treat you to a gourmet breakfast to start your day off right. You’ll have full use of the facilities and amenities, including hot Jacuzzi, bicycles, and other activities.

Young Rafting Adventure & Family Packages (ages 5 and up)
If you want to share the fun of river rafting and beauty of nature with your kids (or grandkids, nieces or nephews) but they are too young for our regular rafting trips, then you will love our new Young Rafter Adventures for kids 5 and up. This great trip is easy, fun, and provides bouncy class 1 and 2 rapids that will give your younger rafters a taste of whitewater rafting. Your South Fork American River rafting trip begins at Coloma State Historic Park, where gold was first discovered, and finish 7 miles downstream. We offer 1/2 day trips with and without lunch, and also offer 1/2 day overnight packages that include rafting and camping at our own private campground. For families with younger kids, ages 5 and up, this is a great way to introduce them to rafting, nature and camping. Please call us for more information at 800-750-2386.
