Merced River Rafting in California near Yosemite Park - What is this river rafting trip like?
There are many exciting runs, which can be found on the Merced River. These include: “Nightmare Island", “Grand Slam”, and the giant "Ned's Gulch", which are just a few of the rapids boasted by the Merced, which stretches over 18-miles.. Spring time is usually the best time to experience The Merced River, when the water is really roaring. The rapids are virtually non-stop during the springtime and often require rafting crews that are either experienced or adventurous first time rafters; all of whom need to be in excellent physical condition for such challenging rapids. The Merced 's canyon floor is also covered with wildflowers during the spring. The lupine, redbud and California poppy all make this area intensely beautiful.

This trip offers outstanding riverside camping in an outstanding natural setting. Once at camp our guides are onto the task of setting up your "Wilderness Camp Kitchen"complete with all the expected amenities of WWE’s basecamp kitchens. Following a delicious a gourmet dinner of Grilled Chicken or Filet Mignon, our guests enjoy campfire activities and perhaps even a riverside sauna to help you relax from the rigors of the day. The following morning wake to breakfast and fresh coffee before once again taking on the river. This is the luxury California white water adventure you’ve been looking for! Make a Reservation
The following morning sees us tackling the lowest and largest rapid, "Quarter Mile," which requires some scouting of the rapid before beginning. We’ll also need to portage (carry our rafts) around North Fork Falls, a 25-foot waterfall far too dangerous to attempt in out rafts. We finish off the trip with a relaxing float into Bagby, the take out spot for this trip. With the natural and un-dammed nature of the Merced River, water levels are prone to very quick changes. There are times when the lower section of the Quarter Mile is too dangerous, at which we will raft the upper 22 miles again.
